New show announced at The Northstar Cafe in Portland, ME - info in Shows !

Went to Portland last night to play some tunes and met some great songwriters.  I never realized how "New York" my sound has become (whatever that is) until now.  Though hip-hop is popular here, few people are using language in that rapidfire way while still staying acoustic.  I turned some heads (i hope in a good way).  I guess after so many years in Brooklyn, where nearly everyone is using the tools of hip-hop in their songs, i took the mix of acoustice music and hip-hop for granted.  Needless to say the radio stations here are vastly different.  I found a country station that i like, and when i listen it brings me back to the short time i was in Nashville and fell in love with Delbert McClinton, Kim Richey, and Lyle Lovett.  As one of the stations here says as their tagline, "Different is good."

Last night's show @ The Songwriter's Beat Festival was so amazing - i think that in the last year i have been treating playing live a little too much like work, and forgot that sharing with an audience is FUN!  So many thanks to everyone last night for reminding me what its really about.  Also, as sad as it is to hear that people were turned away at the door it does feel pretty damn great to play to a packed house!  So much love to Val for, again, setting up an amazing festival.  And so many thanks to the other performers, all of whom were such deft songwriters and engaging performers.  I was nervous and excited to be included with such illustrious company!  Check them out...

No longer in my beloved NYC until the new year. Living in Maine (which surprisingly i really like) and writing up a storm! Will be recording a new album in December (details to come) and avoiding NYC rent will def help with saving the money needed to pay for everything. In the next few weeks i will be starting a fundraising campaign for the album and if you would like to help there will be a myriad of ways to do so! ;)

Shooting for 11 songs for the album and so far we have 35 to choose from!  I will post snippets (either on youtube or facebook or here) as soon as i figure out how to record video from my laptop- GOD I FEEL LIKE SUCH A LUDDITE.

Check out Songwriting Scene. I submitted BEATDOWN as part of their "wednesday to wednesday songwriting challenge" last month and i LOVE how my tune is so hard to stylistically pin down!!!

"Bill Grady offers a groovy mash-up of rap, bee-pop, doo-wop..or something…I’m not really sure what to call it, but it’s called “Beatdown” and it’s cool;"

LOL! Seriously though, the site is a great one for anyone who writes songs at any level. I highly recommend it.

I am leaving my beloved Brooklyn in June - to hit the road, play some shows, get some tune in with mother nature and write more songs. First college show to become official is BELOIT College! Woohoo! See you guys in October!3.23.10

Its SPRING!!!! NYC is awakening again. My lady and I ate our first salad from our garden (dee-LISCOUS) and are happy that old man winter is on the wane. I’m considering breaking out the flip-flops…

Wrote a new tune! I might send it to a hiphop producer friend in chicago for some beats but then again might leave it as it is. Tentatively titled “Beatdown” but if anyone has a better one I am all for using it. It is currently the first track in the audio player on this site.

Currently on course to play colleges across the country and it looks like my first shows (contracts pending) will be this fall in IN, IL, MO, and MA ! Keep your fingers crosses for me!

It looks like I will be playing shows at some colleges in the fall! Just got back from the NACA National Conference in Boston and met some amazing people. Information as to where and when the shows will be happening will be posted when each show becomes official. I am so ridiculously excited. So much hard work has gone into this and to see it begin to bear fruit feels unbelievable.

Snowpocalypse! NYC is covered and it is simply awesome. Headed to Boston for NACA Nationals this weekend and i am excited. So much great music in one place, and so many artists i haven't heard of yet but am about to be blown away by. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows at 92Y Tribeca and at Pianos - definitely a different vibe at each venue but both shows were a lot of fun! A new song (the thought of going to NACA got the juices flowing) on the SHOP page - download "FORTUNETELLER" for free before NACA is over next week!

It's the holiday season. This time of year "Feliz Navidad" is perpetually stuck in my head, and I simultaneously enjoy the new snow in NYC and wish for warmer, longer days. I hope all of you out there across the Internets are enjoying good health, good cheer and good friends. Join me in the new year for a concert at Piano's (see the Shows page for details), where I'll be sharing the evening with squeeze rock performer Julz A. It promises to be a good time. Until then, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, or, simply, Pleasant Solstice...

Hey all! Just got back from the NACA South conference in Winston-Salem, NC where I met a ton of cool, new people. I'm now recuperating from the madness and preparing for the next one. Plus, I'm in the middle of booking some more shows in NYC so check the calendar for updates.
